A day after missing out on the Baseball Hall of Fame for the 14th straight year, Jack Morris took aim at the sabermetricians who largely decry his 3.90 career ERA. ÂThe real question is, he said in an interview on MLB Network Radio tonight, ÂIs it relevant? ÂI think what IÂve seen from the sabermetric guys is that numbers are a wonderful thing and they can use them any way they want, the former Tigers ace told Jim Bowden and Casey Stern on Inside Pitch. Â(ERA) is what writers have determined as the negative. RELATED: Morris cited pitching his entire 18-year career in the American League with the designated hitter, talked about being one of only two players to win two Babe Ruth Awards (best postseason performer) and mentioned his 175 complete games, but said he wasnÂt bitter with WednesdayÂs results. ÂUltimately, IÂve got to realize how many people are in my corner and how lucky I am to have that, he said. ÂFor two years now, IÂve had the majority of votes and IÂm grateful for that. ItÂs an honor. It truly is an honor to be on that ballot and have that kind of support. Morris finished second in voting with 67.7%, falling short of the 75% required for admittance. Next year is his last on the ballot. ÂI have to come to terms with the reality that there could be a chance that I wonÂt be a Hall of Famer in the writerÂs eyes, he said. ÂYou know what, IÂm OK with that. I understand that. Morris said he predicted that he wouldnÂt get elected by reading about how the writers were torn. ÂWe all got put aside because nobody knew how to handle the (performance-enhancing drugs) guys, he said. ÂBut the bottom line is the writers had a lot to deal with this year and they did the best they could. ÂItÂs a case where they had a tough call and itÂs mainly because thereÂs no defining criteria that anybody else has taken the responsibility of to define, so they have to define it themselves.ÂContact Anthony Fenech: 313-223-4527 or afenech@freepress.com. My Worst Nightmare Comedy. Starring and . Directed by . In French with English subtitles. (Not rated. 103 minutes.)The first half of "My Worst Nightmare" contains some of the best comedy and the biggest laughs of the season, and the second half ... eh. So there we are: half o f a terrific comedy, followed by half of an improbable and only mildly interesting romance. That's an even , and when it comes to movies, an even proposition isn't good enough for most people, but here's a case where it might be. Benoit Poelvoorde is a versatile actor in every genre, but he's particularly gifted in comedy. He was absolutely hysterical as a painfully shy chocolate-maker in "Romantics Anonymous," and, with lesser material, he's almost as funny here, playing a complete vulgarian - a heavy-drinking, good-for-nothing handyman who intrudes himself into the lives of a bourgeois couple, played by and Isabelle Huppert. Mainly the movie is about the clash of personalities between the characters played by Huppert and Poelvoorde, but in a way it's also about the clash of their screen personas: the cold, composed and precise Huppert and the scattered, voluble and compulsively intrusive Poelvoorde. In the early part of the movie, Poelvoorde, as the handyman, is hired to do repairs in Huppe rt's apartment, and the whole comedy consists of his making her crazy: As she is taking a shower, he comes drilling through the bathroom wall, etc. The movie stays in that mode for a while, and while it does it's delightful, but it can't stay there forever, and that's where the problems start. To put it in one sentence, so long as Huppert can't stand him, the movie is extremely funny, but the more she gets to like him, the more the air goes <a href=http://www.monclerjacketsold.com>moncler jacker sold</a> out of the balloon. In addition to Poelvoorde, who is pretty hysterical, "My Worst Nightmare" has the advantage of Huppert in her first comic role since "Me and My Sister" in 2004 (unless you count 2010's "Copacabana"), and she's a good comic actress, despite her penchant for the dark side. But, of course, she can't get laughs where there are none, and she can't buy a laugh in the movie's second half. is The 's movie critic. E-mail:

Sir Alex Ferguson wants the Premier League to examine 's signing of Ezekiel Fryers from Standard LiÚge, with the manager claiming there will be a mobile phone "trail" after the north London club failed to agree terms with for the defender during the summer.Had Tottenham pushed ahead with a move for Fryers at that time, a fee would have been set by a Premier League tribunal, which might have been expected to award United compensation of £5m-6m for the former England Under-19 defender, who was out of contract. Taking Fryers from LiÚge is thought to have cost Spurs around £900,000.The Belgian club paid United £250,000 for the Manchester-born Fryers last summer, a fraction of United's target fee because the player was moving abroad rathe <a href=http://www.monclerjacketsold.com>moncler jacker sold</a> ed host Liverpool on what is a pivotal afternoon in the Premier League as Manchester City travel to Arsenal. But Ferguson will not be able to field the England forward. "He won't be fit for that, I don't think," the Scot said. "It's nothing serious, he just got clipped behind the knee. Hopefully two weeks will sort it but it's a loss and although we're in great form you want your best players available for the big games coming up."We've got West Ham, Liverpool and Tottenham the week after that, and the FA Cup hopefully after that. So it's a tough period and you want your best squad available. We've not had that all season anyway so it's not as if we can't cope; we will. Particularly with the defending all season we've had to do without key defenders."Now we've got <Nemanja> Vidic back, <Chris> Smalling back, Phil Jones will be available for <West>Ham] so we're in good shape at the back and utilising the squad has been very good. We've worked it well over the last few weeks."Ferguson stated that he is confident Rio Ferdinand will stay, despite the centre-half's contract ending in the summer and no new deal having been agreed. "I don't think Rio wants to leave and I don't think he is panicking about that," the manager said. "I think we are comfortable with that." Nani is back in training following a hamstring injury.
