Even at 16-0, Michigan is evolving.Coach John Beilein spoke before the season about wanting to play multiple big men at the same time, given Michigan's improved depth. The opportunities just haven't arrived.Yet now, with forward Jon Horford healthy enough to play after his dislocated knee, and a few bigger opponents looming, starting today against Ohio State, there's a chance.Six-foot-8 Jordan Morgan and 6-10 Mitch McGary are playing around 20 minutes each, often subbing for each other with 6-6 Glenn Robinson III playing the power forward spot. Now that 6-10 Horford is back in the mix, Beilein might experiment."The other day (against Nebraska), with the tightness of the game, we didn't do it a whole lot, probably played Glenn too many minutes," he said Saturday. "I'd like to play both (Morgan and McGary). In this particular situation, you may have to. So we'll see. And Jon's health, he should be able to go, so we'll throw him in there as well."Horford practiced Friday, and Beilein said there were some "kinks" he worked out -- he hasn't played in a game since the injury Dec. 15 -- which was better than throwing him into a close Nebraska game because of his conditioning and comfort at a game speed.Another point in favor of a two-bigs lineup is Beilein said Ohio State's second-chance points have hurt the Wolverines in recent matchups.IMPRESSED: Though Beilein admitted the Buckeyes' offense has changed from last year when everything went through Jared Sullinger in the post and allowed him to make decisions, trying to handle forward Deshaun Thomas (20.3 points and 6.8 rebounds) is a major challenge." Aaron Craft, it starts with him, because he's the one that finds Deshaun, but Deshaun can get it going," Beilein said. "There's no college playbook or NBA playbook that can stop some of the things he's doing right now. He's tall, he's got long arms, and he's shooting runaway NBA shots."FOOTBALL NOTE: According to multiple reports, Plymouth (Ind.) offensive lineman Dan Samuelson has flipped his commitment from Nebraska to Michigan, becoming the 25th player in the class of 2013.Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-5, 275-pound Samuelson as a three-star recruit and No. 11 player in Indiana.

Flu activity was elevated all across the U.S., except in the far west region that includes Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii and Nevada, the new report showed. More than 3,700 people have been hospitalized for the flu since October, and 20 children have died, the CDC says. Most of the hospitalizations have been in people older than 65. For the first time this season, deaths associated with the flu rose into the epidemic category, though just barely, CDC officials said.Vaccines given to fight this year's flu appear to be about 62 percent effective overall , according to data from some 1,155 children and adults with acute respiratory infections. Of people who got the flu, 32 percent were vaccinated. CDC officials characterize that level as "moderate" effectiveness and infection control experts say it's about what they expect from the shots. "That's normal," said Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of the department of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. "It's a good but not a perfect vaccine." This year's vaccines appear to be about 55 percent effective against influenza A strains, which are responsible for most illness and more severe cases, and about 70 percent effective against influenza B, which is usually less serious, the report showed. That helps explain why some people who've received flu shots -- which are recommended for everyone older than six months -- say they've still gotten sick. It argues in favor of using antiviral drugs such as Tamiflu to help bolster {keyword} vaccine effectiveness, or VE, CDC's report said. "T {keyword} ouisvuitton.com/]louis vuitton handbags hese early VE estimates underscore that some vaccinated persons will become infected with influenza; therefore, antiviral medications should be used as recommended for treatment in patients, regardless of vaccination status," the report concluded. Scott Shafer feels that he owes his life to Ann Arbor. The former Michigan defensive coordinator only spent one miserable season with the Wolverines, as they went 3-9 under new coach Rich Rodriguez in 2008.But heÂll always hold the university close to his heart for a different reason.ÂThe beautiful green eyes of my wife (Missy), he said on conference call today, announcing his hiring as SyracuseÂs head coach. ÂShortly after we got there, we found out she had some melanoma cancer, and she had some procedures, and we had some very scary moments. But the greatest thing about being in Ann Arbor for us was that she had ... arguably the best doctors in the world for melanoma, both research and curing it. She hasnÂt had any cancer for over three years. So getting beat up there for a year was well worth it to see those beautiful eyes every morning.ÂShafer arrived on a defensive staff that already was put together. There were two who followed Rodriguez from West Virginia (Tony Gibson and Bruce Tall) and another who had experience as a defensive coordinator: Jay Hopson. Shafer was supposed to bring them together, even though he didnÂt hire them.Despite his success the previous year under Jim Harbaugh at Stanford, it didnÂt work.ÂI just didnÂt fit, said Shafer, who is succeeding Doug Marrone, who left for the NFLÂs Buffalo Bills. ÂI went to Michigan because it was Michigan. IÂm from Ohio, and when I was young, I thought there were only two colleges: Ohio State and Michigan. And I didnÂt practice what I preached through the years to my recruits. I said, for years to my recruits, 'ItÂs not about the buildings, itÂs not about the stadium, itÂs not about the uniforms. ItÂs not even about the tradition. ItÂs about the people youÂre going to be with for the next 4-5 years.' I just didnÂt fit. I wish I would have researched it a little bit better to know I wasnÂt going to fit in with that group.ÂU-MÂs 28.9 points per game allowed that season were the worst in the programÂs modern history -- until the mark was approached the following year (27.5) and blown away in 2010 (35.2).Shafer and Michigan parted ways mutually after the season, according to a document he signed stating he would not Âdemean or disparage the university and would be paid until the following May, unless he took another job.The next year, Shafer was SyracuseÂs defensive coordinator and quickly built it into a strong unit, ranking No. 7 nationally in total defense in 2010.Shafer was a coaching star when he arrived at Michigan and resumed that track after he left, culminating in his first chance as head coach.ÂI got a lot of good out of that (Michigan experience), a lot of wisdom out of that, that whole group, coach Rodriguez and that whole group, he said. ÂI appreciated that opportunity, and I learned a lot from it.ÂContact Mark Snyder: msnyder@freepress.com. Follow him on Twitter .

"My approach is totally different than it was five years ago," Boylan said. "I'm more comfortable in this position. After I reflected for a while, I was too concerned when I was coaching here of trying to hang on to the job. I was too focused on the specific moment as opposed to seeing the big picture and working with that."Boylan is one of Skiles' closest confidantes and answered affirmatively when asked if he thought Skiles would coach again."I just think Scott is meant to be a coach and he loves it," Boylan said. "There are teams out there that can use a guy who gives them some structure. Just like the past teams he has coached, teams that have been struggling a bit and need someone to captain the ship. That's what Scott does."Hands off: With Derrick Rose taking what the team termed predictable contact in practice, Jimmy Butler got asked how teammates handle the situation."We definitely don't want to get him hurt again so if he's going to the cup, let him go," Butler said. "Open (jumper), contest it but don't let him come down any wrong way or undercut him. Just normal basketball stuff."Butler said Rose even has dunked occasionally in practice."He's continuing to go hard, that's for sure," Butler said.Despite all the recent good news regarding Rose, it's still unlikely he will see game action before the All-Star break.Moving day? Yahoo! Sports first reported the Kings could be sold to a Seattle-based ownership group and moved from Sacramento to Seattle, which has been without a team since the SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder in 2008.Nate Robinson grew up in Seattle and knows the pulse of the fan base well."That's a great thing," Robinson said. "The fans need that."Bombs away: After an extremely slow start, the Bulls have climbed to 11th in 3-point percentage."The 3s we're taking now are a lot better than the ones we were taking earlier in the year," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "They're in rhythm off ball movement, off the swing, off the ball in the paint. When guys make the extra pass, that's usually when you get the high percentage."
